Collection of 43 snapshots pasted in as illustrations to T.W. Venn's typescript history of piracy along the coast of Western India, entitled 'Pirates and Picaroons. The Pax Britannica on the Bombay Coast.' The preface to this work, dated 1959, states that the author was 'for 35 years, in the employ of the Bombay Steam Navigation Company Ltd., the writer at various times was superintendant of groups of out-ports between Karachi and Quilon. In the course of these duties...he has tramped over cliffs...and along the sands from one small entrepot to the next along the entire litteral from Bombay to Mangalore...'
