Description: This collection comprises Album 3 of the original Bowring Collection of portraits, letters and seals of Indian rulers and others. Sections 1-186 contain material relating to chiefs not receiving salutes from the Government of India. The sections are arranged in no particular order, although Bowring's index (Mss Eur G.38/4) brings the material together under provinces. Sections 187-191 contain letters from British officials (no portraits), and section 192 covers Tibet. The original collection has been conserved and mounted in eight large (475x610mm) post-bound volumes thus:
