1 historiated initial 'E' in colours and gold, of Stephen, introducing the offertory to the Mass for the feast of Stephen (26 December): "Elegerunt Apostoli Stephanum Levitam plenum fide et Spiritu sancto". 1 initial 'B' in colours and 1 initial 'E' with pen-work decoration and yellow wash decoration (f. G verso). On the reverse two four-line staves with musical notation and partial text: "tuis iustifica / Beati im[m]acu" from the end of the introit to the same Mass: ''Sederunt principes et adversum loquebantur et iniqui persecuti sunt me adiuva me Domine Deus meus qui servus tuus exercebatur in tuis justificationibus. Ps. Beati immaculati in via qui ambulant in lege Domini'. |

Miss Violeta Harris (b.1898, d.1989): apparently purchased by her soon after World War II through her brother, Tomás Harris, managing director of the Spanish Art Gallery in London. Accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of inheritance tax from the estates of Miss Violeta Harris and her sister, Mrs Conchita Wolff, and allocated to the British Library through the National Art-Collections Fund in 1992. |
